Is this checklist suitable for condos and townhome associations?
Yes. The checklist covers governing documents, financials, and vendor contracts — all of which apply equally to HOAs, condo associations, and townhome communities. Some state law citations differ for condominiums; we note where applicable.
How do I get the outgoing board to complete the checklist?
Send it as an official written request via certified mail or email with read receipt at least 30 days before their term ends. Frame it as 'required by the association's records retention policy' rather than a personal demand — it's harder to refuse.
What if we're switching management companies at the same time?
