HOA online payment software — collect dues without chasing checks

Residents pay HOA dues from a browser. No checks, no Venmo, no monthly bank deposit trip. Stripe-powered payments post to the ledger in real time — the treasurer sees every payment without touching a spreadsheet.

What paper-based dues collection actually costs

Most self-managed HOAs collect dues by check or informal digital transfers. None of these methods scale, and all of them create hidden work for the treasurer.

Collecting paper checks

Deposit trips to the bank every month. Checks lost in the mail. Treasurer's home address on every statement.

Chasing Venmo / Zelle payments

No paper trail. Residents dispute amounts. Payments split across personal and HOA accounts.

Manual reconciliation

Cross-referencing bank statements with a spreadsheet. Every payment entered twice — once in the bank, once in the ledger.

Late-payer follow-up

The treasurer manually flags who's 30/60/90 days late and emails or calls each one individually.

How Hivepoint online payments work

  1. 1

    Resident logs into the portal

Residents access the payment portal at your HOA's own domain — not a generic payment processor page. They see their current balance, due date, and payment history.

  2. 2

Resident pays by card or ACH bank transfer

Stripe handles the payment securely. Residents can save a payment method for recurring autopay. No card numbers or bank details are stored in Hivepoint.

  3. 3

    Ledger updates in real time

The payment posts immediately to the dues ledger. The treasurer sees it without any manual entry. The resident receives an automatic receipt by email.

  4. 4

Stripe deposits funds to your HOA's bank account

Stripe transfers funds directly to the HOA's bank account within 2 business days. No intermediate accounts, no manual transfers.

  • Automatic receiptsEvery payment triggers an email receipt to the resident. The treasurer doesn't send receipts manually — and residents have a paper trail for their records.
  • Real-time ledger syncOnline payments post to the treasurer's dues ledger the moment they clear. No reconciliation. No manual entry. The ledger is always current.
  • Payment history for residentsResidents can view their full payment history and download past receipts from the portal. Fewer "did my payment go through?" emails to the treasurer.

Common questions

What payment processor does Hivepoint use?

Hivepoint uses Stripe for payment processing. Stripe handles credit card, debit card, and ACH bank transfer payments. Residents pay securely through your HOA's portal — Hivepoint never stores card numbers or bank account details. Stripe deposits funds directly to your HOA's bank account, typically within 2 business days.

Does online payment require the Community Edition, or is it available in Board Edition?

Online payments require Community Edition. The resident-facing payment portal is part of the resident portal — residents need somewhere to log in, see their balance, and submit payment. Board Edition covers the treasurer's ledger, aging reports, and manual payment recording, but the resident payment portal is a Community Edition feature.

Can residents set up automatic recurring payments?

Yes. Residents can save a payment method and schedule automatic payments — either on the due date or a set number of days before. The board sees each payment in the ledger in real time. Residents who set up autopay rarely go delinquent, which reduces the time the treasurer spends chasing past-due accounts.

What happens when a resident pays — how does the ledger update?

When a resident completes an online payment, the transaction is confirmed through Stripe and the ledger updates in real time. The resident receives an automatic receipt by email. The treasurer sees the payment in the dues ledger without any manual entry. There's no reconciliation step — the payment is already recorded.

What does the resident see when they log in to pay?

Residents see their current balance, payment history, upcoming due dates, and a Pay Now button. They can view past receipts and download them for tax purposes. The portal is at your HOA's own domain — not a generic payment processor page — so residents recognize it as your community's official payment system.

Does Hivepoint support partial payments or payment plans?

Partial payments are supported — residents can pay any amount, and the ledger reflects partial balance and remaining amount due. Payment plans (scheduled partial amounts) can be configured by the treasurer on a per-homeowner basis. The audit trail records every payment, adjustment, and balance change.
